OverviewProvide consulting engineering services on behalf of a national retail chain of stores in the conceptual design and implementation of a new corporate data center. The scope of the project included a phased approach to the ultimate data center build out of 90, 000 square feet. Phase 1 included a 45, 000 square foot raised floor area, located above the electrical and mechanical energy plant. Additionally a disaster recovery data center was installed on campus as part of contingency planning requirements. ![]() ChallengesThe project required working with project management and design engineers in developing the requirements for a facility to meet present and projected business requirements. The design therefore required the ability to add infrastructure equipment as the business demands grew without impact to on going data center operations. The systems design requirements included maintaining a Tier IV facility at each phase of the project. The scope of work required presenting design alternatives to help meet a dual power path distribution to essential data processing and communications equipment and that essential systems would provide a high level of fault tolerance and be concurrently maintainable. |
